If you’re thinking about oil rig careers and which one is right for you then look no further. You see when people think about oil rig careers they generally focus on the roustabout and roughneck positions. These are well known and great jobs to get, as you can move up the promotional ladder after the experience gained in these positions.

Now these are not the only oil rig careers! What if you’re not fit enough to handle either of these physically trying positions? Well there is still plenty of scope on an oil rig. You could get an entry level oil rig position as a cleaner/painter. This position is well paid and you’ll be called upon to help out in many different areas of the rig. This gives you an opportunity to find a niche that would suit you.

Let’s look at other oil rig careers. How about becoming a baker of the rig. This is a purely night shift position as you’d be responsible to see that all the bread is baked over night, ready for breakfast! The pay for this oil rig job is usually about $42 000. Come on where can you earn that sort of money on land?!

Considering oil rig careers doesn’t mean changing your skills set. Look at what you do in your current job. Ask yourself if there is a position on an oil rig that would require your skills. Then you’re on your way. Earn more – doing the same job as you are now. Just do it on a rig!
